Sims 4 Jungle Adventure (Complete Guide) How to Explore the Jungle in 2024
The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure pack introduced by the EA in 2018 has become a favorite of many because of the various elements and features it offers to the players.
In this article, we’ll discuss everything about this pack and what all it includes so that you can decide whether you wish to buy it or not if you have it already, then you still need a guide to understand what is going on in it.
After all, this game pack is all about exploring a jungle, and you should be prepared for what you might come across. So let’s get to it right away.
Vacationing in Selvadorado
So, the first step for your character is to go to your sim’s phone and select the “Take a Vacation” option from the second tab.
The game introduces a new world in this pack, Selvadorado, where you’d travel to and once you’re there, select a cabin for as many days as you can afford because you’d have to pay rent for it. You can send up to 8 sims for a vacation, but it’d cost that much more.
Your characters must have a decent budget; otherwise, surviving in the wild would become difficult. Since Selvadorado has several lots that load at once, all your characters can explore different lots, and you’d still be able to control them.
However, if one of your sims is in the jungle and the other one is in the household, then you’d be able to control only one of them. Disabling free will might help you out in such a situation.
How to Explore Jungle Sims 4?
When your character is going to venture into uncharted territory, you’d undoubtedly have to be prepared for everything. Even though nothing in the jungle would be lethal to your sim, they should still survive in the best possible condition.
Now, you might be wondering what does Jungle Adventure add to Sims 4? To know the answer to this question, follow this jungle adventure guide to a T and enjoy this feature.
1. Preparation for Exploration
As soon as your character steps into the jungle, they’d gain a spider repellent and a machete for free, which would be in their inventory.
These items are used when you select them, but if your character’s in danger, they will use these as per the situation to defend themselves. When your character successfully dodges such a situation, they receive a positive moodlet.
There’s a marketplace where NPCs put up stalls and sell items. If this lot is loaded in the game, then your avatar can go and buy from these stalls.
All you need to do is click on the item you wish to purchase, check its price and then pay for it. These prices are fixed and can’t be bargained. You’ll find this item in your character’s inventory.
We recommend you buy a few machetes, which cost 120 simoleans, and different repellent sprays. Along with that, purchase fire foam to save your avatar from getting burnt and get antidotes to various things.
If you don’t find some of the items you need at the stall, then you can come the next day because the sellers restock their booth with different items every day.
2. Fulfilling Needs
As your avatar explores the jungle, they can’t keep worrying about their needs running low. Even though the decaying need bars don’t pose a threat to your character’s life, they’d still have issues while interacting with objects.
If things go out of hand, you can press M on your keyboard to go back to your household. Don’t worry; your jungle adventure progress is saved, so you can come back after some time and start from the same place.
Bladder Need
This is one of the most challenging needs to replenish because your character isn’t of the view that they can pee anywhere in the jungle; they’d rather pee themselves. So, in such cases, having a steel bladder reward trait is a boon, or you could make sure that your sim goes to the bathroom before entering the jungle.
Fun Need
Here’s another need that isn’t easily restored, but it decays gradually. So it’s better if this need is full before they start their adventure; otherwise, their interactions with the chance cards or other traps might not be well. Those with the Fitness SP can also make their avatars use earbuds and listen to music to keep their fun needs full.
Hunger Need
Now, this need is easily filled by going to the marketplace and buying a Grilled Cheese Ready to Eat, which replenishes two-thirds of the hunger need. You can stock up on this as much as you want, as it won’t go bad.
Another option is to cook a large meal before going to the jungle and keep a serving from it in your character’s pocket. However, they should consume it fast, or else, it’d become spoiled.
Energy Meter
You don’t have to worry about this need as long as you’re not planning on exploring the entire jungle and a temple in one day.
If you have the Outdoor Retreat pack, then you can keep an air bed in the inventory, and whenever your avatar feels tired, they can take it out, take a nap on it, and then put it back.
Hygiene Meter
Your character can buy Waterfall in a Bottle from the marketplace, which would take care of this need. When your sim uses this item from the inventory, it replenishes 50% of their hygiene needs.
You can stock a lot of these, but even using it once can help your character sustain for a long time. This need isn’t an important one to focus on, though, because even if it isn’t restored, it won’t affect their adventure.
3. Where to Start
The entrance to the jungle is from the Belomisia Trailhead lot, which is on the western side of the map. Here, you’d see a sign as well that mentions certain things that your character should carry and what all they should expect here.
You’d see the entrance near the sign covered with ivy and vines blocking the path. When you click on it, you’ll see two options: Clear Path with Hands and Clear Path with Machete. This command would appear whenever you venture into a new area.
Choosing the first option, clearing with hands, would take more time and also cause your character to gain a “Hands Hurt” debuff. If your character has gardening skills, they might not be affected by this debuff. Using a machete is a quicker way, with no debuffs, but the machete might break after that.
After the gate opens, interact with it and choose the “Pass Through” option. Now, your character would disappear for some time, and you’d then see three options regarding what they found.
There’s a safe, risky, and item-based option to choose from. Safe options don’t offer any reward to you; risky options are dependent on a specific skill, while the item-based option would guarantee you one of the listed items.
Whatever gates you open and paths you clear, it’d stay that way in the game. However, if your avatar returns to their household, the progress would reset, and they’d have to clear those paths again. It’s an advantage as well because you can now acquire more rewards.
4. Temples
If you’re going for the jungle adventure, you cannot miss out on exploring the temples in it because they contain various rewards for your players.
These temples are generated randomly at a fixed place. Once your character clears out the temple and the lot, it’s regenerated in a different way.
When your character starts their adventure, it’s better to steer clear of temples and focus on clearing the jungle path to the temples instead, including the archway that leads to the temple.
Once you’ve done this, bring your sim back to their household, where they can restore all their needs, and then go back to exploring the temple on the second day.
The temples aren’t without their traps, so be cautious of them because if your character doesn’t disarm them, then they’d gain a debuff.
It’d take a long time in sim hours to complete the exploration of the entire temple, so if your avatar’s needs were full before they ventured back to Selvadorado, then it won’t create an issue. However, do pack a meal for your character to have so that their hunger need doesn’t go down.
As your avatar enters the temple, all the archways inside it would be blocked, and the traps would be out in the open along with the structures to disarm them.
For instance, you might come across a set of four bowls, and one of them is the key to disarming a trap, but if your character interacts with the wrong one, then they’d get a debuff.
Instead, your sim can use the “Examine” option to analyze the object. This command is available once per object only. Then the character would report what they’ve analyzed.
Now, click the object again and then notice the symbols beside the interaction options. If there’s a red thumbs down button, then it’d undoubtedly fail and would cause you to get a debuff.
An object with the green thumbs up button is the right option to disarm the trap, whereas one with a yellow question mark means that your avatar couldn’t identify it. These observations of your character are always spot on, so trust them.
However, a character with Archaeology skills would offer more insight and solutions regarding the same and would also be able to go through the temple quickly as compared to other characters.
Sometimes, there might be more than one disarm object available in the room, but interacting with only one of them would work.
Collecting Treasure
In the temple, your avatars would come across treasure chests that are open to them already, so they can just loot all the rewards in it.
By the end of the temple, there’s a special treasure chest with the best rewards for your sim. They glow differently, and your sim can sell the objects in it to earn money and use it to pay their rent in Selvadorado.
Once the final treasure box is looted and your character leaves the lot, the temple will disappear. So make sure you check every location for other such treasures because once the temple disappears, there’s no going back.
You can bring your character back to the household for some time if it’s taking too long to explore the entire temple and then go back to where you left things because your progress will be saved until the temple has been cleared or your vacation time ends.
As soon as your character reaches the last room, they’d receive a message that it has been cleared and when they leave, the temple’s arch location would reset, and your character would have to go through the whole clearing of the archways process again.
This time when they enter through the archway, it’d lead to a different temple with new rewards. If you leave the vacation without exploring the temple fully, the progress will reset, and a new temple will appear instead of it. So make sure you leave the vacation only when you’ve completed going through the entire temple.
5. Jungle Maps
Whenever you’re venturing into uncharted territory, it’s essential to have a map of that place, and the same goes for Selvadorado.
So it would be best if you understood the jungle maps available to you so that you don’t miss out on anything. Now, the jungle remains the same. It might reset when you return from vacation, but the archways would lead to the same places, and the temple would appear in the same location.
The screenshots of the maps would tell you the location of various places through circled letters, such as Temple is denoted by a T.
You might encounter archways that are blocked by a metallic door, and no amount of skill or strength would allow you to open that gate. You can do one thing, which is to go back and return so that if you’re lucky, the archway might be open this time.
However, you might have to go back and forth multiple times for this to happen. This could also mean that some of the archways that were open earlier are closed now.
One thing is guaranteed, though, which is that the temple’s path will always remain open. Between areas 5 to 8, two of the locations would be closed, while two would be open. Now, let’s take a look at the areas that are accessible in the jungle. These areas are randomly listed.
Area 1 – Belomisia Trailhead
This is the lot on the western side of the map and is the entrance to the jungle. It also serves as a scenic point as well as a cookout point. Next to the sign board, you’d see Area 2.
Area 2
This location links two archways through a bridge, and besides this area, you’d notice an archway that is closed unless you go back and forth for it to open. Now, when you cross the bridge to go to Area 3, it leads you on a path to the temple. It also offers a breathtaking view of the waterfall.
Area 3
Now, when you come to this place, you’d see several archways around you leading to various locations. The temple’s entrance is marked as T here.
Area 4 – Omiscan Royal Baths
As the name suggests, this area features a natural pool where your sims can swim. You’ll find a treasure chest here as well, but nothing more. Some of the locals might be in the same area, though.
Temples
The temple looks the same and is situated in the same location. There’s only one archway that leads to Area 3; however, its interior does change every time it’s generated.
Area 5
This area is a dead-end with an archway, a pond, and a waterfall. You’d come across a treasure chest here under a large tree in the center, and you might even acquire rare finds by fishing in the pond.
Area 6
Here, you’ll again find a treasure chest and a pond for fishing. It’s also a dead-end like the previous area but is smaller in size as well. You might discover Areas 5 and 6 locked, while 7 and 8 would usually be open.
Area 7
You can go to this place through the Omiscan Royal Baths, and it includes a large plaza in the center, but there’s nothing much here. You’ll find a treasure box here as well.
Area 8
This area is accessible via area 2. It features the shell of a crashed plane, which is the highlight, and it also has a small treasure chest. The plane is only for decorative purposes; it’s not for interaction or for looting it.
6. Jungle Relics
Relics found in the jungle are perfect for sims who have the aspiration to be an archaeologist. There are three things required to make a relic: a relic base, a relic itself, and a refined crystal.
As for the base and relics, they are available in dig sites or treasure chests. The crystals, though, are only available in the final treasure chest in the temple. Characters who are archaeologists can convert a dig pile into a dig site and must have a high level of archaeological digging.
When the crystal’s found, it’s not in a refined shape. The avatar must interact with it and when a pop up appears, select the “Refine Crystal” option. It’ll then ask which crystal you want to use.
Once you have all three things required, interact with the base in your sim’s inventory and select “Fuse with….” and then choose the relic you wish to add to it.
Now, interact with the relic created and click on the “Insert Crystal” command, and then select the refined crystal you wish to add to it. This would successfully assemble a relic.
Now, this relic would be a part of the inventory, and you can use it in the house or on yourself. It’s usable on other family members as well, but sometimes, you’re the only one who can use that relic on yourself due to its function. All you have to do is interact with it in the inventory and choose whom you want to use it on, yourself or the lot.
You’d not know what that specific relic does until you use it once. In the inventory, when you hover over it, its name appears, but its effects would be mentioned as “Undiscovered.” Its impact could be positive or negative, so be cautious. Some of them might even hurt the target your character chooses and benefit them instead.
Relics can only be used a limited number of times because when their lifespan starts ending, they’ll appear cracked and damaged. It’ll eventually break but still be a part of your inventory. Players can place a new refined crystal in the same relic to use it again.
Once the relic is used, it’d emanate a curse or a blessing, and it might be powerful enough to last for 3 sim days. These blessings or curses can also be spread to other characters as well if you want.
There’s an item called “Ancient Bone Dust,” which you can find in the temples or through your archaeology skills. It’d keep you safe from the curse. Here’s how to go about it.
- Interact with a stove.
- Click on the “Cook….” option.
- Now, select “Remedy of the Ancients” from the list.
- When it’s cooked, your character can eat it and get rid of the curse, and it’d convert into a blessing.
Your avatar only needs to have level 1 in cooking skills to follow this recipe. In addition, characters who have already been blessed or cursed can’t be targeted by the relic.
So a character with a blessing and another one with a curse can’t target each other. Once the effect of the curse or blessing ends, its effect is reset, and the sim’s family can pass on this blessing to each other continuously. Not so much if it’s a curse, though.
7. Skills Required
There are two skills that you require in this game pack: Archaeology and Selvadoradian Culture. Let’s know more about these two.
Archaeology
This skill would come in handy, especially when you are exploring the temples, as it helps your character study the objects better, which in turn allows them to disarm traps. You can learn this skill by studying books.
Sims can study dirt piles to use this skill of theirs as they are available in the jungle in several numbers. Interact with the pile and click on “Excavate,” and when they do so, it’s always a successful command. The loot from the dirt would become part of your avatar’s inventory.
Now, your sim should buy a pop up archaeology table for 450 simoleans from the build mode to examine the value of the object excavated. Sometimes, the expensive lots in Selvadorado already have this table.
When you’re at this table, your character would only have one command to choose, which is “Uncover artifact….” to see what all your sim has in their inventory. Choose the artifact you wish to discover.
After your character cleans the dust off the object and reveals what it is, you can sell it to earn money, decorate your lot with it, or keep it in your avatar’s pocket. However, not all relics are valuable.
As you progress in this skill, your sim will gain the ability to analyze a relic’s authenticity. A genuine relic would be brighter and more colorful and would thus be more valuable, whereas a fake one would be valuable but not as much as the real one.
As your character reaches level 4 in this skill, they can discover dig spots on their own, and you can choose the “Go Here” option, then click anywhere on the open ground and select the “Survey for Dig Piles” option.
If they do find something, they’ll move to the dig spot, but sometimes they won’t find anything. Once you’ve used this command, you can’t use it again for several in-game hours.
Characters can also turn dig spots into dig sites as they reach higher levels. These sites are larger in size and have more content, which is why it requires at least 4 sims to work on them.
Those with the Get to Work pack can have their characters, and their family members dig these sites and sell the objects at a retail store.
Selvadoradian Culture
The second skill focuses mainly on cuisine and has 5 levels in total. Characters at a lower level in this skill won’t be able to finish the food they buy from the marketplace, whereas those with higher levels would be able to finish the food and also tell the recipe just by tasting it.
Preparing a Selvadoradian dish by themselves would require both cooking and Selvadoradian culture skills. The best way to learn about their culture is to talk with a local by choosing one of the two interactions available, denoted by a tiki mask. One of them is “Chat about Local Sights,” and the other is “Local Salutation.”
You can keep repeating these social interactions to increase your skill level, but don’t do it too frequently; otherwise, your sim will get a bored moodlet. However, it doesn’t affect your progress, so keep doing this task until you reach level 5 of this skill.
This interaction is accessible only to locals, so you’ll know who’s a local and who’s a tourist based on when this command pops up. Identifying locals through their clothes is also possible because they usually wear angled patterns, shorts, and sandals.
8. Jungle Adventure Aspirations
There are two primary aspirations that this pack offers: Archaeology Scholar and Jungle Explorer. The first one focuses on archaeology skills, while the other one is about exploring jungles. Both of them are interlinked, though, because when exploring the jungle, archaeology skills come in handy.
It’s pretty easy to complete these goals, but the first task as a Jungle explorer might seem strange because it asks your character to “View Statue of Madre Cosecha,” which is located beside the fountain in front of the marketplace. You’ll only get one interaction available, to View and once you do that, the task is complete.
Similarly, as an Archaeology Scholar, it’s expected that your avatar would be good at writing skills because they’d have to write a book as the last task. Let’s look at the levels you’d have to clear to complete the aspirations.
Archaeology Scholar
Completing this goal would reward your character with a Museum Patron trait, which gives them positive moodlets whenever they visit any museum type lot.
Level 1 – Trowel Technician
- Use Archaeology to excavate 3 dig piles or sites.
- Discover any artifact through the Pop-Up Archaeology Table.
Level 2 – Research Associate
- Reach Level 4 in Archaeology.
- Search for a dig pile (click the ground in any lot in Selvadorada; you must be at Level 4 Archaeology for this option to appear).
- Check the authenticity of 3 artifacts via the Pop-Up Archaeology Table.
Level 3 – Excavation Expert
- Reach Level 7 in Archaeology.
- Discover 3 Excavation Sites.
- Check the authenticity of 5 Excellent-quality artifacts.
Level 4 – Archaeology Skill
- Reach Level 10 in Archaeology.
- Write a Good Archaeology Skill Book, which requires high Writing skills.
- Give an Archaeology lecture successfully.
Jungle Explorer
Those who choose this aspiration and complete it would receive the “Treasure Hunter trait,” and it’d increase the value and amount of rewards you gain from the treasure chests.
Level 1 – Vacationer
- Purchase any 3 items from the marketplace stalls in front of the cantina.
- Eat a traditional Selvadoradian meal (buy it from the food stall beside the market stalls, but it doesn’t count for food purchased from the cantina itself).
- Look at the Statue of Madre Cosecha.
Level 2 – Expedition Rookie
- Reach Level 3 of Selvadoradian Culture.
- Locate an Area off the Path (do so by successfully winning a chance card after you clear an archway of ivy).
- Analyze 3 traps (it’s not necessary to disarm the traps you examine to gain success in this task).
Level 3 – Regional Master
- Defend yourself against 2 natural dangers by using the proper defensive spray in your pocket to complete this task. You can do so by buying a few Spider Repellents from the marketplace, then staying at the cheapest rental property. Or else it will probably happen while exploring the jungle if your character has the sprays in their pocket.
- Reach Level 5 of Selvadoradian Culture.
- Create a Mystical Relic.
Level 4 – Jungle Explorer
- Check out 3 Rare Omiscan Treasure Chests (they are usually located in the final room of Jungle Temples, so you’d have to explore the temples three times at least).
- Trigger a Mystical Relic 5 times.
- Locate 5 Omiscan Treasures (this task is linked to the first one).
Conclusion
This was our guide on Sims 4 jungle adventure, which prepares you well for this game pack and what you can expect from it because it’s not something every player would be interested in. However, it’s quite an intriguing and amusing storyline to try because it’s refreshing and adds a level of mystery to the whole gameplay.
faqs
It’s up to you to decide whether this game pack is worth it or not because it offers several features and a new world for your characters to explore. There’s a lot to look forward to in this storyline, but it depends on the players and their gaming avatars what they think of this pack.
No, you can’t live in the Jungle Adventure; however, you can stay at a community lot in the new world introduced in it by paying rent for as many days as you can afford.
You might not be able to explore the jungle because of unclear paths. Your avatar must clear a way for themselves and then progress further in their journey.
